| 1. | How do I Setup a Keeper League if I upgraded? Answer: If you have a keeper or dynasty league where some or all players on rosters are carried over from year to year, there is a certain sequence of events that you will need to go through to prepare for your on-line draft on MyFantasyLeague.com. This How to Setup a Keeper League guide will walk you through those steps.
- From your 2008 league home page, log in as the league commissioner, and click on the commissioner home page message link to upgrade your league to a 2008 league. Log into this new 2008 league as Commissioner.
- Make sure your 2008 league is set up to hold an on-line draft by going to your For Commissioners > Setup > General League Setup page and make sure that the "At the start of the season, rosters are determined by:" option is set to one of the first two "On-line draft" settings (email or live).
- Use the For Commissioners > Setup > Draft Setup > Draft Order Setup - All Rounds and Draft Order Setup - One Round to define your overall 2008 draft order.
NOTE: Do not use the Draft Order Setup - One Round option to manually account for future draft pick trades as these will be automatically accounted for in step #6 below.
- (Optional Step for Keeper/Dynasty Leagues). Go to the For Commissioners > Setup > Players and Rosters > Transfer Rosters screen and check the checkbox next to each player that should be transferred from the 2008 end-of-season rosters. This will move those players onto each owner's active roster for your 2008 league, and make those players un-draftable for your 2008 league.
- (Optional Step for Keeper/Dynasty Leagues). Once your league has determined each owner's keeper players, you must use the For Commissioners > Setup > Players and Rosters > Select Keepers screen to specify which players should be retained on each franchise roster. Any players not selected will be dropped from the roster. If the 2009 draft has been defined, you can optionally define the specific draft pick taken by each keeper player. For example, if your league rules dictate that an owner can keep up to three players, in lieu of their first 3 rounds of draft picks, when the commissioner loads the keepers onto the rosters at the beginning of the season, he may indicate what draft pick the owner has given up for that keeper player. Once the commissioner has completed the "load keepers" step, the system will automatically update the draft report to indicate the keeper players in their appropriate slot, and also automatically skip over that pick when it comes up in your draft.
- If you had a 2008 league with us, and allowed owners to trade future year draft picks in 2008, go to the For Commissioners > Setup > Draft Setup > Import Future Draft Pick Trades option to have the system automatically update your 2008 draft order based on the actual 2008 draft pick trades. Note that it is important that you do this step before letting owners actively trade on the site, as otherwise there will be confusion due what looks like duplicate listings of draft picks on your For Owners > Trades page.
- Finally, make sure that all of your other draft settings in the For Commissioners > Setup > Draft Setup screens are correct for your league draft, and then you'll be all ready to start your draft.

| 2. | How do I Setup a Keeper League for my First Year with MFL? Answer: In order to start a Dynasty or Keeper League through MFL you will need to follow these instructions from our How to Setup a Keeper League. This will detail the steps necessary to upgrade your league.
- Go to the For Commissioners > Setup > Players and Rosters > Load/Unload Rosters page, and indicate what players initially should be put on what rosters for each franchise. This will make those players un-draftable for your 2008 league.
- Make sure your 2008 league is set up to hold an on-line draft by going to your For Commissioners > Setup > General League Setup page and make sure that the "At the start of the season, rosters are determined by:" option is set to one of the first two "On-line draft" settings (email or live).
- Use the For Commissioners > Setup > Draft Setup > Draft Order Setup - All Rounds and Draft Order Setup - One Round to define your 'base' 2008 draft order.
- Use the For Commissioners > Setup > Draft Setup > Draft Order Setup - One Round to now remove the specific draft picks used in lieu of the 'keeper' players. For example, if five out of eight teams in a league kept a single player, modify the first round of the draft to only include the three picks that correspond to the franchises that did not keep a player.
If the 2008 draft has been defined, you can optionally you can also define the specific draft pick taken by each keeper player.
- Finally, make sure that all of your other draft settings in the For Commissioners > Setup > Draft Setup screens are correct for your league draft, and then you'll be all ready to start your draft.
NOTE: One common question we get about keeper league drafts on the site is "What happens to the players currently on rosters when a draft starts?" The short answer to that question is "nothing" – the system will see that those players are currently on rosters (and simply leave them on the rosters), and thus make them un-draftable to other owners in your league.

| 3. | I upgraded my league, but none of my rosters transferred over. How can I transfer over these players? Answer: Since most leagues are not keeper/dynasty in nature (aka, redraft leagues), you need to use the Transfer Rosters screen to copy over last season's final rosters and (for keeper leagues) at some point prior to this year's draft or auction, use the Select Keepers screen to actually specify which players should be kept. See the Commissioner Tutorials > How do I set up a keeper/dynasty league draft on MyFantasyLeague.com?
for more detailed information.

| 4. | New teams are joining our keeper/dynasty league and we need to have an expansion draft prior to our regular draft for these teams. How can we set this up? Answer: You can only have one draft per league so you should use the Load/Unload Rosters to adjust for your expansion draft (you can either hold this expansion draft offline or use the message board to record picks). Then proceed with your regular draft as usual.

| 5. | How do I Assign Keepers to Draft Picks? Answer: Once the rosters have been transferred for your league, and only after your Draft Order has been defined, can Keepers be assigned to draft picks.
Go to the For Commissioner > Setup > Select Keepers and choose a franchise to select keepers for.
Check the box next to the corresponding players name and from the pull down you will change the Draft Pick from “In Lieu Of…” to a specific Round/Pick.
Note that your draft order MUST be defined prior to selecting these keepers and any alteration to the draft order will change the round/pick for the intended keeper.

| 7. | How do I Change My Keepers? Answer: If you have incorrectly loaded your keepers and need to have these players returned to their active roster to be reselected go to your For Commissioner > Setup > Select Keepers. Choose the appropriate Franchise and click the link that states: “You may un-select these players, and have them return to the active roster.”
This will re-instate these players to their original roster.

| 8. | How do I Make Players Available in a Keeper/Dynasty League when an owner leaves? Answer: When an owner in a keeper league does not return and you want to make his players available to the league pool you will not transfer the rosters for this owner upon upgrade. By not defining these players as the owners players they will become available to the league.
If they have already been transferred or assigned as keepers to the franchise then as commissioner go to the For Owners > Drop Players and drop these players from that roster.
Note If your league chooses to “Lock Dropped Players” you will need to go to the Report > Players > Locked Players to unlock these players and make then available in your league.

| 9. | How do I use the Transfer Rosters page? Answer: This option only appears for leagues that have upgraded from a 2007 MyFantasyLeague.com league. It allows keeper and dynasty leagues to copy over some/all of the 2008 rosters to the 2009 league.

Load all Players - Check this box if you simply want to copy the entire list of 2008 rosters to the 2009 league.
Select Individual Players - Click any box corresponding a player you wish to transfer from the 2008 final roster to a 2009 initial roster.

document for related information.
When finished, you MUST click on the Transfer Rosters button in order to actually copy the player(s) from the 2008 end-of-year roster to the 2009 initial roster.
