Both MIS and RAL have 17 players on their active rosters. MIS signed Collie, but dropped a player on the Farm Team, which doesn't clear an active spot on the roster for Collie. RAL has apparently had 17 players for a week, but nobody noticed. Both teams have been fined 1cb. If each team has not complied within 24 hours of this post, each will be subject to a 2cb fine.

Damn, did not realize that was a fine. I thought this season was just fines on competitive lineups. Now please dont send some frickin link back to me, Eduardo Bin Lactosin. Another reason we need to go back to last season's rules with no limit on active players and various lineup formations, jabroni. This is starting to get way too complicated. How do I join this Ed-hater club?

Chumpy, is that you? Puleo, maybe? Nothing changed regarding rosters this year. We have always had a 16 player maximum roster. It's as easy as it's ever been to manage a roster - 16 active spots, 35 years, 1 additional year for each player on IR. The league hasn't gotten more complicated - life has. And the league has become less of a priority to the dads in the league. I still don't know Chumpy's and Puleo's excuses.

OK Ed... I am 0-4, so I dont have much more to do than bitch about something. I dont even have a dog to kick or something. But seriously, I randomly chose 2003 rosters and found 3 teams with 17 players (none on IR).

Randomly chose 2003? Are you sure you were reliving your glory days of winning the first (and only) Toilet Bowl? I can't explain why some teams had 17 players. For now, I'll chalk it up to inaccurate records. I'll look back at the transactions and see if I can recreate what happened. But the only thing that matters are the rules - http://cfffl.com/info/rules.htm (see rule V.A.). You, Puleo, and Chumpy ought to get together for a study session.

MIS finally got his roster in check earlier this morning. The fine schedule is below. Wed - 1 cb Thu - 2cb Fri - 3cb Sat - 4cb Sun - 5cb Total fine = 15cb This one is tough to administer. The rule is the rule, but that's between 43-75% of the yearly allotment. ![]() I'll listen to alternative suggestions.

Can you stipulate a max on these type of fines? I mean, this could have a really devastating effect on the franchise for several years. I don't think the violation merits that - the escalation of the fines...while I understand the purpose of the scale....just takes off too quickly. I'm OK with you making a "mercy" rule then revising the rule/fine schedule so it's escalates but at a slower rate. Hope other guys in the leauge feel the same and speak up. We've got rules but this is supposed to be fun. Let's not ruin a franchise for a season or two for this violation. At the risk of sounding like a West Coast hippie, I say "Leniency!" ![]() Joe Noe

To be a bit more specific, instead of being cumulative I suggest the fines not be additive. I think a 5 CB fine definitely gets the point made. Joe NOE

I tend to agree with the West Coast Hippie, which sounds like a good name change for NOE. The problem with a cap is once you've reached the cap, what's the incentive to act? What to do in that case?

Use your Commish powers. Make it a soft cap. If someone refuses to "get it" and you feel it's intentional or grossly negligent, I think you should have the right to give them a little extra "incentive" not to do it again. Godell yields pretty broad powers, you can, too. Should be rare - most guys here seem pretty engaged and well intentioned.

having a fine of 15 cb's is WAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY too much!! If you are going to fine him for that much, why not fine Puleo and Golsen for every day they are late assigning contracts? Honestly, I think a fine is a fine. If it's a 1 cb fine for this violation, then you get fined 1 cb. Even 5 cb's is way too much. We aren't trying to deter people from playing in this league. This is suppossed to be fun guys. If a problem persists that a player doesn't take action to correct their problem, then look for a replacement owner. But, we are all adults here. Like you said earlier, the league hasn't gotten harder, life has. Although my pathetic life is not that complicated, I'm sure most of your's is. So, make the fine 1cb and make each player responsible for correcting their mistakes or possibly lose their franchise. Chumpy

I agree that the fine is too steep, but to make a fine a simple 1cb fine doesn't help - after the initial fine, what's an owner's incentive to correct the problem? I don't want to threaten league removal for something so simple. So the theory was that an escalating fine would give an owner incentive to actually correct whatever violation has occurred. But is is now clear that escalating fines are too harsh a penalty. I'm going to change the fine structure to 1cb per day. It still gives an owner incentive to take corrective action, but won't debilitate his team for years to come (most of us can do that on our own). BTW, Puleo and Golson were fined under the same guidelines at the contract deadline. They just got their stuff corrected within the first day or two, so the fine was smaller.

Sorry guys but fantasy football is taking a backseat this year as my parents health has been an issue this year. They are doing ok now but I have had a lot of things on my mind right now beside fantasy football. As far as the fine, I think 15cbs is pretty excessive as I don't think I even have that much in the bank so I will be going forward into the off-season with a negative balance.

I agree...the fine is excessive. I joined the league for fun and try my best to stay on top of it but I'm sure there will be a time when I screw up and go a week without fixing it. There should be a consequence for that but not something close to a franchise "death penalty". Life gets in the way and sh!t happens sometimes! The suggested soft cap sounds like a good idea with the Commish swinging the proverbial hammer when needed (such as doubling fines, finding a new owner, etc.).

James, Sorry to hear about your parents health issues. My grandfather went through some health issue a few summers ago, and it really affected my home and work life. But I still feel like my focus was in the right place at that time. Don't worry about us - it's just fantasy football.
