All rules for your league that are tied to a specific date and time need to be set up on the league calendar. This screen will let you create new events, edit existing events, and view all currently-defined events. As an alternative to directly using this screen, you can also view the Monthly League Calendar
report and click on the "+" (plus sign over a dash to the right of the date) for a given day to add a new event. You may also want to use the Home Page Modules & Tabs Setup screen to use the Weekly League Calendar module.
The top part of this page allows you to edit and delete existing events, while the bottom portion is used to create new events.
NOTE: 12:00 PM is noon and 12:00 AM is midnight. In addition, what is commonly referred to as "midnight tonight" is technically the first second of the new day tomorrow, and NOT the last second of today.
To create a new event:
| 1. | Select an event type from the "Event Type" drop-down list. An detailed event description appears below. |
| 2. | Indicate the date/time that the event starts. You can choose either a specific date/time or "Kickoff of week xx", but when using the latter, be careful as many weeks start with either a Thursday or Saturday game. |
NOTE: Click on the calendar icon to quickly and easily view a calendar for the entire NFL season.
| 3. | Specify the date/time in which the event ends. Note that some events (Lineup Deadline..., Draft, and Auction) don't have an end time so this field may be unavailable. It's also important to understand that the system will only allow one waiver-type event to occur at any instant in time. Therefore, a common practice is to only define start times for all weekly waiver events and add a 'No Waivers' event for 'Kickoff of Week 17". Not only will this make the waiver rules less cloudy for the commissioner, but they will also appear more clearly to the owners using the League Calendar
reports. |
| 4. | Some events (ie, waiver rules) occur on a weekly repeating basis. Fill in the "Happens this time, and ..." to repeat an event. |
NOTE: Repeated events should only occur within the span of a single week and then be repeated. Defining an event to occur naturally (by start/end date/time) in excess of 7 days and then repeating this event will generate a "Warning: Overlapping event..." error.
Event Types
Draft/Auction - This type is always available and marks the start of your league's draft or auction. While the draft or auction won't immediately start once this time has elapsed (most leagues will still need a few minutes or more to get everyone ready), the site will prevent the draft or auction from starting before this time. These events cannot have an end date/time specified.
NOTE: For deluxe leagues, define one draft start time for each conference or division as necessary.
No Trades Allowed - For leagues that allow player trades, the site assumes trading is allowed at all times. Use this event to specify certain times of the week or season in which trading is explicitly not allowed. This event prevents owners from accessing the For Owners > Trades screen. As a result, if your league is set up to require all trades be subject to a league-wide poll and the poll is still open when this No Trades Allowed deadline occurs, owners will still be allowed to vote in the poll and the poll processed accordingly, even if the trade poll closes after your league trade deadline occurs.
No Injured Reserve Moves Allowed - For leagues that allow fantasy IR (enabled on the For Commissioners > Setup > General League Setup
screen), the site assumes these IR moves are allowed at all times. Use this event to specify certain times of the week or season in which these moves are explicitly not allowed.
No Taxi Squad Moves Allowed - For leagues that allow a taxi or practice squad (enabled on the For Commissioners > Setup > General League Setup
screen), the site assumes these taxi squad moves are allowed at all times. Use this event to specify certain times of the week or season in which these moves are explicitly not allowed.
No Waivers Allowed - This event is hidden when waivers are separated from true free agents on the For Commissioners > Setup > Transactions Setup > Waivers/Free Agents Setup
screen. Use it to restrict a time when owners are not able to pick up any non-roster players. Any previous event will terminate with this event.
First Come, First Served Waivers - This event is hidden when waivers are separated from true free agents on the For Commissioners > Setup > Transactions Setup > Waivers/Free Agents Setup
screen. Define this event to allow owners the ability to acquire all non-roster players on a first-come-first-served basis.
Waiver Request - This event is used differently depending on whether or not waivers are separated from true free agents on the For Commissioners > Setup > Transactions Setup > Waivers/Free Agents Setup
screen.
Combined Waivers/Free Agents. In this default scenario, owners are able to submit requests on all non-roster players from the beginning of this event through either the end of this event or the start of any of these waiver events (blind bid waivers, FCFS waivers, no waivers, or another waiver request).
Separate Waivers/Free Agents. When this option has been chosen, owners are able to submit requests only on recently dropped players from the beginning of this event through either the end of this event or the start of any of these waiver events (blind bid waivers, or another waiver request).
Blind Bidding Waivers - This event is used differently depending on whether or not waivers are separated from true free agents on the For Commissioners > Setup > Transactions Setup > Waivers/Free Agents Setup
screen.
Combined Waivers/Free Agents. In this default scenario, owners are able to bid on all non-roster players from the beginning of this event through either the end of this event or the start of any of these waiver events (blind bid waivers, FCFS waivers, no waivers, or another waiver request).
Separate Waivers/Free Agents. When this option has been chosen, owners are able to bid only on recently dropped players from the beginning of this event through either the end of this event or the start of any of these waiver events (blind bid waivers, or another waiver request).
No Free Agent Moves Allowed - This event only displays when waivers (recently dropped players) have been separated from true free agents on the For Commissioners > Setup > Transactions Setup > Waivers/Free Agents Setup
screen. By default true free agents can be acquired at all times by any owner on a first-come-first-served basis. Use this event to restrict these true free agent acquisitions during the week or season as needed. This event has no bearing on recently dropped (waiver) players.
